Timolan release pr

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources 9 released seven (7) wild animals at Lake Maragang Rainforest Park in Mount Timolan Protected Landscape last June 6, 2020.

The animals that were released were: four (4) Brahminy Kite (Haliastur indus), one (1) Crested Serpent Eagle (Spilornis cheela) and two (2) Reticulated Python (Malayopython reticulatus).

These wildlife were rescued and rehabilitated for around six (6) months at the DENR 9 Regional Wildlife Rescue Center (RWRC) in Baclay, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur.
With the approval of its Protected Area Management Board, MTPL is one of the identified releasing site for the rehabilitated wild animals from the RWRC.

DENR 9 Regional Executive Director Crisanta Marlene P. Rodriguez reiterated that our wildlife should remain in the wild. She is also thankful for the partnership with the Department of Agriculture 9 and the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Government for the maintenance and operations of the RWRC.

The activity was in line with the celebration of the Philippine Environment Month this June and the World Environment Day last June 5.
