CENRO Siocon Conducted Coastal Clean-up in Observance of ICC

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) IX together with the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Zamboanga City culminated the Philippine Environment Month through the awarding of certificate of recognition to its partners in environmental law enforcement on June 30, 2021.
Officials and personnel from the Regional Maritime Unit 9 Zamboanga City, Marina Police Station (MARPSTA), 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company and the Regional Maritime Unit 9 namely: PMAJ Samuel C Lim Jr, PMSg Jimhari I Halim, PMSg Marcial A Belingon, PSSg Isidro B Tacang, Jr, PSSg Marvin T Apolinario, PSSg Loven M Oas, PSSg Marjorie C Jailani, PSSg Jan Michael T Cuario, were awarded for their active participation and support in the conduct of apprehension and confiscation of illegally sourced/transported forest products and equipment.
In a speech delivered by Zamboanga Sibugay PENR Officer Edgardo P. Montojo, expressed his sincere gratitude to the partner agencies for their full support to DENR’s mandate in protecting the environment. Zamboanga City CENR Officer Jaime C. Salvador, said that June is busiest month of the year for the department due to the multiple environmental celebration during this month. The agency is much appreciative to everyone that has extended their help in the protection and conservation of our environment and natural resources, he added. Retiring personnel were also acknowledged during the program for their dedicated work and service to the agency.
Aside from this, a Eucharistic celebration and blessing of CENRO Zamboanga City newly constructed building was also conducted.

GABU, LABASON, ZN – Enforcement personnel of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Liloy, in collaboration with elements of Labason Municipal Police Station, apprehended undocumented lumber last July 4, 2020 at Barangay Gabu, Labason, Zamboanga del Norte.
Per initial investigation, a total of 71 pieces of Bagtikan and Mahogany lumber with a corresponding volume of 844.31 board feet valued at Php 36,292.42 were seized by the raiding team.
Further investigation revealed that the apprehended lumber is allegedly owned by a certain Mr. Antonino L. Maturan, 50 years old, married and a resident of Barangay Daniel Maing, Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte.
The alleged owner will be charged for violating section 78 of PD 705 as amended or also known as the Revised Forestry Code while the apprehended lumber is deposited at CENRO Liloy Compound for safekeeping.
