The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region IX through its Enforcement Division (ED) together with the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Zamboanga del Norte conducted a 2-day Paralegal training on forestry laws and other environmental-related policies at the Seed Production Area (SPA), Upper Milidan, Baliguian, Zamboanga del Norte on June 9-10, 2022.
 
There were around 45 selected participants from DENR IX PENROs and CENROs Monitoring and Enforcement Section (MES) and all Legal Researcher who are enforcing forestry, laws and other environmental-related policies to mitigate environmental crimes.
 
Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Cidur S. Julsadjiri, in his message said that everyone must do their share to strengthen the enforcement section and to come up with strategies on how to effectively implement the law. Appropriate implementation of forestry laws with urgency and genuine political will through empowered DENR law enforcers is a must.
 
Siocon CENR Officer Rey Jalandoni welcomed everyone and discussed P.D. 705 or Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines and DAO 97-32 or Apprehension, Seizure and Confiscation Procedure. Deputy CENRO Ricardo E. Abil discussed R.A. 9175 or the Chainsaw Act. Atty. Ellen G. Nalzaro explained Warrantless Arrest and Inquest Proceedings and Rules of Procedure for Environmental Cases and Case Build-up (Investigation and Handling of Evidences). MGB IX- Engineer II Keith Leymann G. Bontao lectured on R.A. 7076 or Minahan ng Bayan and R.A. 7942 or Mining Act of 1995 and Forester Leo V. Baes expounded on R.A. 9072 or Caves and Cave Resources, R.A. 9147 or Wildlife Act and R.A. 11038 or the eNIPAS Law.
 
This event aims to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement of ENR protection and law enforcement system of DENR IX which promotes sustainable development.
