Upland farmers beneficiaries in Calula, RT Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay Province expresses their elation upon receiving yesterday 1.19 Million worth of farm equipment from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)in Region IX.
 
Calula Community-Based Forest Management (CBFM) Association President Samuel Lastimado expressed his happiness during the simple turn-over ceremony as the equipment composed of a whole set of rubber creeping machine will provide a great support in the semi- processing of rubber which is their main source of livelihood.
 
"Daku kaayong tabang ang pagdawat namu kaning rubber creeping machine kay makakuha na mi ug maayong presyo para sa amuang mga produkto na goma" (The rubber creeping machine is a big help for us as this will add value to our harvested rubber), Lastimado said.
 
He added that the machine has the capacity to process around 1 ton of rubber daily and will be made available to all of his members in the association.
 
Regional Executive Director Crisanta Marlene P. Rodriguez in her message advised the association to work together and continue to sustain their livelihood and eradicate poverty in the uplands.
 
RT Lim Hon.Vice Mayor Michael Piodema said that this rubber livelihood project will really help the people in Barangay Calula to lift up their financial stability. He expressed his optimism that the association will manage it wisely and become a role model for other upland communities to follow.
 
Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Ronald D. Gadot said that people should cooperate and have that spirit of livelihood where there is full of life and energy.
 
" Let this small assistance grow until you will achieve progress under thespirit of sharing and collaboration", ARD Gadot added.
 
Also present during the occasion were PENRO Edgardo Montojo, CENRO Diomedes Pablo, PENRO TS Chief Michael dela Cruz, Deputy CENRO Rey Quaresma, RSCIG Chief Roservirico Tan, HEA Mariane Tapales, CBFM Chief Josephine Tangalin, PCO Nonito Napigkit, barangay officials, officers and members of the association.
 
Calula CBFM Association is a peoples organization who are beneficiaries of the National Greening Program (NGP) and Community-Based Forest Management Program wherein they were able to establish a total of 215 hectares of rubber plantation since 2011.
