The Community of Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay Province commemorated 2022 World Water Day, International Day of Forest and National Women's Month with an information campaign and clean up at Barangay Pamintayan, Buug on March 21, 2022.
The environmental lectures was attended by personnel of this office led by CENRO Pilarito B. Montebon, the Pamintayan Barangay Local Government Unit, as well as community residents of said barangay.
During the conduct of the lecture, For. Joel B. Realiza said that the celebration of the International Day of Forest is one way of reminding us the critical role of forests in our survival. He added that we should also do our part by actively participating in activities that promote proper forest management and sustainability. He also encouraged the participants to be vigilant in the protection of our remaining forest cover.
LMO II Leo Villarubin reminded the audience to band together to put an end to the overuse, exploitation, and waste of every drop of water. Further, he said that water is one thing that defines life for all the organisms on this planet and that on the occasion of celebrating World Water Day let us be united to conserve water.
Deputy CENR Officer Wirlyn B. Ladores reminds everybody that National Women's Month is a celebration of women exercising their choices, taking chances to make their voices heard, benefiting from it and trailblazing changes. It's a celebration of Filipino women's ability to change the narrative, raise important issues, and demand actual action.
After the information campaign, a clean up drive was then conducted in a small spring at Sitio Barorao, Pamintayan, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay. The small stream in this area has been used for bathing, domestic water supplies, and watering livestock and this activity shall serve as an example for the residents to help maintain its cleanliness.
