As we observe this year's World Wetlands Day with the theme "Wetlands Action for People and Nature", let us appreciate our very own Lake Maragang at Mt. Timolan Protected Landscape in Zamboanga del Sur.

Lake Maragang is a heart-shaped crater lake, it has a total land area of 2,689.542 hectares with Lowland forest covering 80% of the landscape and the remaining areas consisting of secondary grassland. It is also home to various species such as the Philippine hawk eagle, jungle fowls, Asian palm civet cat, Philippine sailfin lizard, Philippine tree squirrel, Philippine duck and many more.

Please take time to appreciate the beauty in nature and promote awareness for its protection and
conservation.
