Personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region IX together with community residents and other stakeholders join the rest of the world in " doing our fair share to restore our Earth" by mangrove propagule growing and doing a clean up activity at the coastal barangay of Combo, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur on April 22.
 
A total of 500 Bacauan propagules were planted in the mangrove area of Combo and was participated by personnel from the regional office, Environment Management Bureau (EMB) IX, PENRO Zamboanga del Sur, CENRO Ramon Magsaysay, Philippine Army Combo Detachment, barangay officials and residents.
 
A brief orientation on the proper planting of mangrove propagules was provided by Forester Rodel Arabes of CENRO RM.
 
Afterwards, the personnel conducted a clean-up activity along the shoreline of Barangay Combo. During the clean-up activity, they collected 15 sacks equivalent to 150 kilograms of plastic bottles, candy wrappers, cellophane bags, disposable diapers, clothes, and broken fishnets.
 
Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 each year around the world to generate awareness and put into actions efforts to help conserve and protect the environment.
