The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region IX celebrates National Women’s Month with the theme: "Women Can Make a Change Amidst Climate Crisis and Covid 19” and in line with the office’s health and wellness program conducts a series of activities on March 9, 2021 at its Regional Office in Balintawak, Pagadian City.
During the opening program, Regional Executive Director Crisanta Marlene P. Rodriguez emphasized the importance of health and wellness in order to efficiently serve others. She said that “Health and wellness is vital so we can take care of ourselves, as we take care of others”.
Assistant Regional Director for Management Services Dante A. Oporto, in his inspirational message said that “health is not just being disease free; health is when every cell in your body is bouncing with life”. He added that in order to be truly healthy a person’s mind, body, emotions, energy should be in tune with each other and a person will feel wholesome within himself.
The highlight of the event was the turn-over of medical apparatus consisting of Sphygmomanometer, Stethoscope, Glucometer and Wheelchair to each Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Zamboanga Peninsula.
The turn-over was headed by RED Rodriguez and ARD Management Services Dante A. Oporto and received by representatives from the field offices.
A blood pressure and blood glucose level check were also conducted to about 250 personnel. They also had a lecture on lifestyle disease and a trigger point massage therapy session was also made available for those who were interested.
The event was culminated by the re-launching of the weekly Zumba dance session which was first launched last 2019 to help maintain the physical fitness of DENR IX personnel.
