Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte… Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region IX through its Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) of Liloy together with the Liloy Municipal Police Station conducted a tree growing activity along Liloy-Ipil National Highway in Barangay Comunal, Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte on January 31, 2021.
The joint PNP and CENRO team planted around 200 Narra seedlings (Pterocarpus indicus). The activity was also participated by the Mobile Force Command, Barangay Local Government Unit (LGU) of Communal and members from the Alpha Phi Omega Zamboanga del Norte United 3rd District Alumni Association.
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Narra (Pterocarpus indicus) is listed as vulnerable since there has been a decrease in its number.
Narra is also the country’s national tree.
The activity is in continuous support of the DENR to the Philippine National Police' (PNP) advocacy in promoting environmental protection and preservation. This also aims to forge a stronger relation between the PNP and DENR.
