Acceptance message of RD Felix S. Mirasol, Jr. during the turn-over ceremony for Regional Directors at Kalikasan Covered Court, DENR-IX, Pagadian City on January 31, 2017.
GREETINGS! Isang Makakalikasang Umaga posa ating lahat.
  • Turn over ceremonies have been a traditional practice of our Department.

-It is the acceptance of the key of responsibility that would unlock the door of the hearts of the supportive people of Region 9, who were left behind by our very own RD Adorable. He has lead us for more than seven years. His work ethics demonstrated his being workaholic RD, very much concerned about the welfare of his personnel, very professional, low profile, that is why he can easily connect and mingle with his rank and file.

-To name a few of his remarkable accomplishment is the: completion of this spacious DENR Building, the Kalikasan Covered Court, the completion of PENR and CENR Offices, and the mechanized Nursery in Baclay that is still underway. For me these are monumental and a legacy itself.

  • I am not really familiar with Region 9, the Zamboanga Peninsula covering 3 provinces, 5 cities, 67 municipalities and 2, 022 barangays, which are rich in history, the fusion of diverse culture, the unique dialects (Chavacano) and the famous natural tourist attractions, and the festivals here amazes me. Well, thanks to internet connectivity and Uncle Google who has been helpful in sharing information in a click of a finger away and it seems that I have virtually visited the wonderful places here, to name a few:

-The historical Dapitan Rizal Shrine

-The Famous Theme Park of Dakak

-The La Hermosa Festival, Kinabayo Festival, Sibug Sibug Festival, Hudyaka, Kutsitsa Festival

-The Sanctuary and Oyster heaven and more…

  • The best practices and styles of leadership have no definite formula to be effective, but dynamic transcendence depending on a situation and culture. It is paradoxical in nature that even the ancient principles are even effective in this modern area.

Secretary Lopez has adopted the ancient Chinese philosophy of Lao Tzu, which is worth emulating for: Such as, the way she deals with her staff, the way she deals with the community is all the same thing. “Ang tingin niya sa lahat ng tao ay partners” for sustainable development.

As evident to her effective leadership which was translated to many foundations and previous programs whose passion for the environment protection, conservation and poverty alleviation are her primary concern. “Giving importance to the welfare of the community and that, people will be happy.”

She has this chanting mantra, that “happiness is the highest form of health.” That is why we could expect health and wellness as one of the agenda of Secretary.

As an incoming member of Region 9 team, I am hoping for the best in this Region, and am looking forward for your unwavering support that you given RD Adorable to be extended unto me. And with God’s blessing and guidance, I am excited to be of service, hoping for the best of what is ahead for us.
