PENR Officer


             The DENR-IX-A, PENRO, Zamboanga del Norte was created by virtue of Executive Order No. 192 and started its operations pursuant to DENR Special Order No. 007 Series of 1998 on May 2, 1988 with its office at Sta. Isabel, Dipolog City and covers the whole province of Zamboanga del Norte under its jurisdiction.


             It comprises the former Bureau of Forest Development, Bureau of Lands, Bureau of Mines and Geo-Sciences, Bureau of Energy and all other offices and agencies whose functions relate to environment and natural resources. These offices were integrated into the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in pursuance to Executive Order No. 131, dated January 30, 1987. It is responsible for the conservation, management, development and proper use of the country's environment and natural resources.

          Originally, PENRO, Zamboanga del Norte has three (3) Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENROs) under its administrative jurisdiction but now it has four (4) CENROs namely; DENR-IX-A1, CENRO, Dapitan City which covers the 1st Congressional District of the province, DENR-IX-A2, CENRO, Dipolog City which covers the 2nd Congressional District, DENR-IX-A3, CENRO, Liloy, Z.N. which covers the 3rd Congressional District and DENR-IX-A4, CENRO, Siocon, Z.N. which covers the southernmost municipalities of the 3rd Congressional District also known as the triple S,B or Siocon, Sirawai, Sibuco and Baliguian.

Land Area

            PENRO, ZamboangadelNorte covers a total land area of 624,444.23 hectares.  From the total area,265,795.49 hectares is Alienable and Disposable Land and the Forestland is 358,648.74 hectares. Of the total forestland area, the Protection forest is 68,629.20 hectares and the Production forest is 290,019.54 hectares.

Turn-over and release of a Reticulated Python (Python reticulatus) into the wild

          One reticulated python (Python reticulatus) was turned-over to DENR-PENRO Zamboanga del Norte on March 15, 2018 at 5:50 in the afternoon by the barangay officials of Barra, Dipolog City namely Rolly Vayloces and Rene Edaga and was released into the wild of Cogon Ecotourism Park on March 19, 2018 at 10:50 in the morning by DMO III Heracleo M. Calasang Jr., PENRO-ZN personnel and assisted by Rico M. Balares, staff of Cogon Ecotourism Park, Cogon, Dipolog City.
