Capacitating DENR-9 personnel on Environmental Law Enforcement Management Information System

            Dapitan City…”DENR will not lag behind the trend in terms of online services”, Forester Bresilda M. Gervacio, ASEC for Financial Management & Information System uttered during the opening program of the Environmental Law Enforcement Management Information System (ELEMIS) Regional Roll-Out at Alexandra by the Sea, Dapitan City on February 7, 2018.

ELEMIS is a tool to facilitate the preparation of filing of cases for person/business that violated specific environmental laws on biodiversity, forestry and mining sector.

ASEC Gervacio said, “ELEMIS will provide vital information for other Environmental Law Enforcement (ELE) agencies as basis for action, planning and decision making. It will also improve ELE  services, promote transparency  and accountability among enforcers and managers, hence, this training”.           

The 3-day roll-out (February 7-9, 2018) aims to capacitate all PENROs and CENROs’ enforcement staff to use the system, develop an action plan and gather recommendations to improve the system.

Resource persons are the following: ASEC Bresilda M. Gervacio, Engr. Roberto Aguda, Mr. Nasser Lawrence B. Luminog and Wildlife Resources Division’s Information Officer Sheena Rubin, all from DENR central office.

          Region 9 is the 6th recipient region of said training. Participants consist of 22 men and 9 women Enforcement Section Chiefs, Special Investigators of PENROs and CENROs and Enforcement Division staff of the regional office who are warmly welcomed by PENRO Salahuddin A. DENR-9 Files Additional Charges Against Commercial Fishing Vessel for Environmental Violation

           The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 9 office last Wednesday filed additional charges against the owner, officers and crew of one of the five (5) commercial fishing vessels which were apprehended earlier within the waters of Turtle Islands Wildlife Sanctuary (TIWS) in Tawi Tawi for allegedly violating Section 20 (a) of Republic Act 7586 otherwise known as the National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS) Act of 1992 at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Tawi-Tawi.
